Oil-based pencils are bright and obvious in terms of color, but come off easily, while water-soluble pencils are softer in terms of color, but are relatively non-shedding and easy to wipe clean. Additionally, oil-based pencils are difficult to wipe clean, while water-soluble pencils can be easily changed using water.
